Joining the Starter Company+ Program gave Verdi the opportunity to refine his business strategy. While he already had experience in business operations, the program encouraged him to further clarify key aspects such as target demographics, service areas, pricing strategies, and competitive advantages. Through the program, he was able to strengthen his business plan, ensuring that VERDEX was positioned for success.
One of the most significant takeaways for Verdi was the development of his detailed business plan—an extensive 39-page document that helped him to define VERDEX's business policies, customer personas, and financial projections. The program provided a structured framework that allowed Verdi to visualize the long-term sustainability and growth of his business.
Verdi’s journey into entrepreneurship began in the technology sector, where he developed a strong understanding of website management, software, and customer service. However, his transition into rural lawn care was driven by a personal experience—moving to a rural property and realizing the challenges of maintaining a large, uneven landscape with standard equipment. After years of refining his approach and investing in specialized machinery, he saw an opportunity to provide a valuable service to others facing similar challenges.
His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? “Just keep digging. Even if there’s seemingly nothing left to do, there’s still something to work on. Whether it’s posting on social media, improving your SEO ranking, or designing road signs, there’s always something to do.”
